28 March 2019: Five NSS volunteers of Don Bosco College Golaghat, TingmaiWangsu, GanglenBangyang, Guloungam Gangmei, George ShilshiLamkhang and Samuel Purty, were slected as part of the Dibrugarh University team participants for the North East NSS Festival 2019 scheduled to be held at Don Bosco College Itanagar from 23-27 March 2019. The program was organized by the Youth affairs and sports Ministry, Regional Directorate of NSS Guwahat, and the State NSS cell Itanagar in collaboration with Don Bosco College Itanagar.

Over 500 students from the North east states barring Sikkhim and Tripura participated. The program was supervised by NSS state liaison officer AK Mishra.  Don Bosco College Itanaar organized a series of literary, cultural and sports activities along with sightseeing during the five day program.

The schedule was hectic and very enjoyable. Every evening cultural programs were organized so that the volunteers could assimilate the beautiful rich cultural traditions. The volunteers were also given life skills training and career counseling by renowned persons like Sunil Kumar Basumatary, Ministry of Youth Affairs and sports, Sunny Mawlong, Motivational Speaker, Fr. Avinash, Youth director, Diocese of Itanagar etc.

Volunteers also visited historical places and important tourist spots of Itanagar. The NSS fest brought about unity in diversity where different cultures, tribes, and life styles lived together under NSS banner. It was a great experience for me as well as for other volunteers who participated in this great event. Such programs help us to bring our differences as a meeting point for living together in mutual respect and admiration. Guloungam Gangmei, 17/SO/095
