Teachers’ Day observed as a day of gratitude in the college

5 Sept: The 5th semester students coordinated the teachers’ day program under the theme “A day of Gratitude” with the help of the various departments of the college: Commerce, Education, English, Political Science and Sociology.

The day was dedicated to appreciate all the teaching and non teaching staff, the management and all those who help in the educational process in various ways.

With floral tributes, songs and dances, the dignitaries were ushered into the hall beautifully decorated and arranged for the occasion. program began with a prayer dance on the theme Shishak Din and the lighting of the lamp.

This was followed by the presentations and thematic items bringing out the significance of the day.

While Guloungam Gangmei of Sociology department introduced the day, Anjana Guria of Education Department gave an appreciative presentation on the how the college staff help mould the live of the students.

Fr. Jose Palely, Principal gave a short presentation and thanked the staff for their valued contribution to the college and society and Mr. Anjan Bharali, Asst. Professor, Dept of Commerce and SWAYAM Coordinator spoke on the noble profession of teaching and the need to appreciate every teacher. Taking cue from his childhood days, he said, often parents are the first teachers and on this beautiful day one should not forget to call them in gratitude.

Sanjit Kumar Singh of Commerce Department gave the vote of thanks, while Marlinush baghwar and Rashmi Tigga of English Department compered the program. Emanuel Lakra of Political Science was the coordinator.

The Officer Commanding of 12 Assam (I) Coy NCC and 74 Assam (I) Coy NCC Golaghat visits the college

29 June:  Col RD Singh, outgoing O/C and Col SK Mishra the incoming O/C of 74 Assam (I) Coy NCC Golaghat and Lt. Col Kapil Bakhshi, O/C 12 Assam (I) Coy NCC Golaghat visited the college today and interacted with the NCC cadets and the college students.

The cadets and the college students welcomed the visitors and felicitated them with traditional Fulam Gamocha and Jaapi.

Col RD Singh, in his farewell message, appreciated the excellent performance of the NCC cadets of the college and told them that if anyone of them is going for SSB, and if need his help, he will be there to accompany them to success. He invited the cadets to give their very best to the new Officer Commanding, Col SK Mishra so that they can soar higher in success.

Col. SK Mishra said that he finds a different level of energy in the children and Don Bosco is one of the shining stars of the North East. I wish to carry forward the good work and the legacy Col RD Singh is leaving behind.

Lt. Col. Kapil Bakhshi, Officer Commanding, 12 Assam (I) Coy NCC Golaghat  and Bosconian of Don Bosco Shillong, said in his message, “NCC will give you a future, free of cost, to go out of North East and get sufficient exposure so that you can do well in life”. We are grateful to Lt. Col. Kapil Bakhshi, for starting a unit of NCC SD cadet at Don Bosco College Golaghat during academic session 2019-20.

CTO Himadri Dutta, placed on record the contributions of Col RD Singh and the Wonderful organization skills of Lt. Col Kapil Bakhshi which she witnessed in the various training camps and thanked them for their help and support for the young NCC cadets of the college.

After this the Officers commanding visited the various facilities at the college and were deeply appreciative of the facilities offered to the students to excel in their academic life.

PI Staff P.K. Dutta awards NCC B Certificates to the cadets

25 June 2019 :PI Staff, P.K. Dutt of 74 Assam (I) Coy NCC interacted with the NCC cadets and gave away the NCC B certificates to the cadets. A total of 23 cadets received the certificates.

In his interaction with the NCC Cadets, he appreciated the hard work, discipline and commitment of the cadets and the CTO Himadri Dutta. He exhorted the cadets to continue to excel in all NCC activities and programs and carve out a bright career through NCC.

The following cadets received B Certificate. Dr. Sheela Paul quizzes Fusco Girls on Alfonso Maria Fusco

10 Feb 19: On the occasion of the feast of Alfonso Maria Fusco, the Fusco Girls Hostel inmates were given some handouts to know more about St. Alfonso Maria Fusco. The quiz was held on 10 February and 75 students participated in the quiz. Dr. Sheela Paul CSJB conducted the quiz with the help of Sr. Ciciliyamma KM CSJB, Sr. Merlin CSJB and Sr. Rohina Kujur CSJB. The questions were based on the life and mission of St. Alfonso Maria Fusco. The First prize was won by Ms. Shibani Topno, while the second prize went to Anjana Guria and the third to Indira Garati Toppo. We wish them all the best. The CSJB sisters are collaborating with the Don Bosco College Golaghat in imparting higher education to the youth.

NCC cadets of DBC participate in the CATC camp at JNV Cinatoli

4 Jun: 21 NCC cadets along with CTO MS Himadri Dutta of Don Bosco College Golaghat participated in the NCC CATC camp program organised by the 12 Assam (I) Coy NCC, Golaghat from 21 – 30 May 2018, at JNV, Cinatoli, Golaghat.  A total of 348 cateds from SW, SD, JW and JD groups p[articipated in the camp. During the ten days camp, lots of activities were held. There were special activities like Drill, Firing, Running, Drawing and speech competition. The cadets from our college participated in most of the items and secured first or second position in many of these events.

Anjana Guria secure 1st position in speech competition, Shamma Kausar 2nd postiion in Firing, Amin Toppo secured 2nd position in 2.4 km race and Jagritee Sonowal secured second position both in drill and drawing competition. All the cadets had a very good time in the camp and returned joyfully on 31 May 2018. We wish them all the best in the forth coming camps and training programs. The college appreciates the dedication and hard work of the CTO Ms. Himadri Dutta who saw to the entire training program.
