Don Bosco College Alumni unit inaugurated by Shri Rajesh Singh, President, Don Bosco Alumni, Dimapur Federation.

4 June:  Shri Rajesh Singh, President, Don Bosco Alumni, Dimapur federation inaugurated the Formation of Don Bosco College Alumni Unit today at Don Bosco College Golaghat, along with Fr. Tarcisius Toppo, Coordinator, Don Bosco Alumni, Assam Region.

The program started at 9 am with the morning assembly. The whole program was hosted by Martin Minj and Shibani Topno. It began with the prayer service led by Sr. Dr. sheela Paul, followed by welcome song. The Principal welcomed the dignitaries of the day, Shri Rajesh Singh, President, Don Bosco Alumni , Dimapur Federation and Fr. Tarcisius Toppo, Coordinator, Don Bosco Alumni, Assam region.

The members of the first two batches that graduated from the college were present. Besides being members of the college Alumni, they also become members of the Don Bosco Alumni National federation, South Asia and International federation of Don Bosco Alumni with its headquarters in Rome.

Mark Pegu, Bikash Kujur and Prakash Mura introduced Fr. Tarcisius Toppo and John Kisku, Jay Kondh, Mariam Kerketta and Sunita Soreng introduced the Chief Guest, Shri Rajesh Singh. In their message they presented the role of Don Bosco Alumni in the growth of an institution and the specific role and benefits of a Don Bosco alumni. At once it is both a College Alumni and a unit of the International federation of Don Bosco Alumni, giving great networking possibility and connectivity to each member.

The second session began at about 10.35 am with the words of introduction by Fr. Tarcisius Toppo. This was followed by the input session on the functioning of the Don Bosco Alumni by Shri Rajesh Singh. This was followed by the election of the office bearers of the Alumni Unit.

Ms. Joyanti Nag, Asst. Professor, Department of Education and Mr. Bharab Hazarika, asst. Professor, Department of Sociology were elected as secretary and Jt. Secretary respectively. The Principal of the college is ex-officio delegate of the alumni unit. Mr. John Kisku was elected president of the Alumni, Ms. Marzita Saikia, Vice President, Mr. Basil Barla Vice Present (GEX), Mr. Mark Pegu, Treasurer. This was followed by the election of the 5 councilors: Ms. Angelina Tirkey, Ms. Jerina Ekka, Ms. Sunita Soreng, Mr. Martin Minj and Mr. Jay Kondh. For the smooth functioning of the Alumni, a separate office room, bank account with President and delegate as compulsory joint signatories and Secretary / Treasurer on either or basis to be operated (2+1), attend the Provincial Council Meeting, and Annual general body meeting.

John Kisku, the President of the unit, was invited to speak and he invited to consider the alumni activity as opportunities to move forward in life. The delegate appreciated the members present and invited them to make this alumni movement a successful one.

The meeting came to an end with the blessing given by Fr. Tarcisius Toppo. The Alumni Unit met together to discuss about the registration fee and decided to keep the life membership fee at Rs. 500 per person and the scheduling of the next meeting on 16 August 2019, the birthday of Don Bosco. This was followed by a photo session with all the dignitaries at 1. 15 pm.

Mr. Rajesh Singh, President, Don Bosco Alumni, Province Federation to be the chief Guest for the First Alumni Meet at Don Bosco College, Golaghat

23 May 2019: Mr. Rajesh Singh, President of Don Bosco Alumni, Dimapur Province Federation, has consented to be the Chief Guest for the First Alumni Meet scheduled to be held on 4 June 2019. It will coincide with the opening of the New Academic Session 2019-20 for the 3rd and 5th Semester Students.

Fr. Toppo Tarcisius, In-charge of the Alumni, Upper Assam, will also be present for the meeting. The pioneering two batches of students (2015-18 and 2016-19) are expected to be present for the meeting.

Mr. Rajesh Singh , a past pupil of Don Bosco High School, Dibrugarh was elected as president on 26 June 2016.

Alumni Core Committee meeting was held at DBC Golaghat to initiate formation of Alumni

20 May: A group of 15 Alumni of the college met together in the office of the principal to discuss about the starting of the College Alumni.

The members present decided to hold the formation of the Alumni on 4th June 2019. The members present decided to invite Mr. Rajesh Singh, the President of the Don Bosco Alumni, Dimapur Province to preside over the meeting. It was decided to elect the various office bearers of the Alumni on the same day.

To facilitiate the organisation of the day, the members elected the following alumni as co-ordinators: Mr. John Kisku, Ms. Joshmine Minj, Mr. Jay Kondh and Mr. Bikash Kujur. At 7.00 pm, the meeting came to a close, inviting all to be present for the 4 June meeting. The Welcome Session will be held at 9.00 am and the Alumni meeting will follow soon after.

DU results declared: DU ResuNilofar Rahman secures 20th Rank in Dept of Pol Sci under Dibrugarh University

Result 6th Sem 2018

14 July: The Dibrugarh University declared the degree results today for the 2nd, 4th and 6th Sem. The students of  very first batch of the college (2015-2018), have all cleared successfully the 6th Semester Examinations and Ms. Nilofar Rahman secured the 20th Position in the Department of Political Science under Dibrugarh University.

Of the Total 40 appeared for the 6th semester examination, 21 secured 1st division, 17 second division and 2 secured 3rd division.

In the Consolidated result, 11 students secured 1st division, 20 secured 2nd division and 5 secured third division. Fours students results are withheld as they are to clear back papers.

Among the successful candidates, Ms. Nilofar Rahman secured the 20th position in the department of Political Science.

We congratulate our students and wish them continued success in their life career.

 

Principal Inaugurates ‘Career Hub’ Wall Magazine

24 March:  To motivate the students of the college to become Career Conscious, the Career Club of the college prepared a wall magazine titled ‘Career Hub’. It was inaugurated on 24 march during the club activity time.  The principal inaugurated the wall magazine and appreciated the efforts made by the Career Club of the college in bringing forth a Career Hub Wall Magazine with many wonderful salient features like best institutions for law studies, UPSC coaching institutes, Full forms of commonly asked questions in Competitive Examinations etc.

In his speech, John Kisku, the president of the Career Club and 6th Sem student, said that this wall magazine will help the students to plan for a better career for themselves. Mr. Mark Pegu thanked the professors who guided the club members to prepare a wonderful Career Hub for the Students.

 

 

John Kisku tops in the ‘Quest for Knowledge’ Quiz

1 Feb:  The finals of the Quest for Knowledge Quiz was conducted on 1 February 2018. Fr. Bimal Lakra, Quiz Master of the show, grilled the 16 contestants to get the finalists for the year. With a pass over round of 3 questions each, 8 candidates were selected for the Second round. To select top 4, rapid fire round of word meanings was done. Time allotted was one minute each for each contestant, during which one could answer maximum number of question.  In the rapid fire round,  John Kisku, Mariam Kerketta, Indira Garatti Toppo and Nilofar Rahman emerged as toppers.

In the final round, articles were shown and the contestants had to reproduce the article from memory. In this round, John Kisku secured 9.5 points out of 10. Mariam and Indira secured 9.5 each and were given a special rapid fire found to rank second and third. Accordingly Mariam secured 2nd and Indira 3rd. Nilofar bagged 4th position with 8 points.
