Teachers’ Day observed as a day of gratitude in the college

5 Sept: The 5th semester students coordinated the teachers’ day program under the theme “A day of Gratitude” with the help of the various departments of the college: Commerce, Education, English, Political Science and Sociology.

The day was dedicated to appreciate all the teaching and non teaching staff, the management and all those who help in the educational process in various ways.

With floral tributes, songs and dances, the dignitaries were ushered into the hall beautifully decorated and arranged for the occasion. program began with a prayer dance on the theme Shishak Din and the lighting of the lamp.

This was followed by the presentations and thematic items bringing out the significance of the day.

While Guloungam Gangmei of Sociology department introduced the day, Anjana Guria of Education Department gave an appreciative presentation on the how the college staff help mould the live of the students.

Fr. Jose Palely, Principal gave a short presentation and thanked the staff for their valued contribution to the college and society and Mr. Anjan Bharali, Asst. Professor, Dept of Commerce and SWAYAM Coordinator spoke on the noble profession of teaching and the need to appreciate every teacher. Taking cue from his childhood days, he said, often parents are the first teachers and on this beautiful day one should not forget to call them in gratitude.

Sanjit Kumar Singh of Commerce Department gave the vote of thanks, while Marlinush baghwar and Rashmi Tigga of English Department compered the program. Emanuel Lakra of Political Science was the coordinator.

A Breakfast Time in the Guwahati – Bangalore Train

18 July 2019: After a peaceful night rest, the students and staff awakened to a new day and got ready for breakfast.

The students distributed Buns and Jam and fruits. Many bought bananas and found that they were much cheaper in Golaghat.

Though a little tired, they are very happy in the train and waiting eagerly to reach Bangalore.

Don Bosco College Students on Educational Tour to Bangalore & Mysore

15 July 2019: Forty Students along with Five staff including the Principal, Fr. Jose Palely set out for an educational tour to Bangalore. The Patron of the Tour is Fr. V M Thomas, Director, Planning and Development, DBTECH New Delhi, who during the visit, interacted with the students and encouraged them for an educational Tour to Bangalore. He also facilitated receiving concession forms, and sponsored dinners in Bangalore. With his blessings, the team set out on the first Educational Tour to Bangalore.

The students travelled to Guwahati by AVADH Express and halted the night at Guwahati, Girls at CRI and Boys at Don Bosco Parish Hall. Thanks to the NF Railway, we got our confirmation tickets with an extra coach added to the train and our journey started on 16 July from Guwahati.

It is the first experience for many of the students. On 18 July they will reach Bangalore and a host of programs await them. Many people have come forward to help the smooth conduct of this Educational Tour. Some of them are: Ms. Suja of Infosys, Fr. Joy, Jinu Mathew & Team at BREADS, Fr. John & Team at BOSCO, Fr. Joseph Elavanal at DBSM, Mr. Felix D’Souza & Mr. Philip of FVTRS,  Dr. Victor Paul & Dr. Tomy KK of Christ University, Mr. Stanley of SKIP, Mr. Sunny & Femi, Fusco School and Provincial Community, CSJB and Tally Solutions.

We wish all the students a wonderful learning time at Bangalore. On 24th July they will return by Bangalore – Guwahati train.

NSS Unit organised a various competition on ‘Climate Action’ to mark International Day of Yoga

21 June 2019: NSS unit conducted competitions  on the theme ‘Climate Action’ to mark the International Day of Yoga. The last day of submission of the various items was on 20 June 2019.

Competition was organised under following category. a) Drawing, b) Poster, c) Articles writing and d) slogans writing.

At the end of the Yoga celebration, Fr. Nebu Mathew, Provincial Economer, Dimapur Province addressed the staff and participants. He appreciated the excellent way in which the college observed the Yoga Day under the leadership of the NSS Unit and the Yoga Club. He was impressed by the drawings, posters and charts displayed in the Yoga Hall.

Prizes and certificates were awarded to the winners by Fr. Nebu Mathew. Ms. Sushmita Bora Rongpipi, program officer, assisted the chief guest in prize distribution.

Under Article writing segment, Rajnandini Dam secured first, Gaimeisin Kamson Second and Shamma Kausar third.

Under the category of Poster, Nokliam Gangsa secured first, Jibita Tigga second and Pranjal Tanti third.

Under category of Painting, Bangsa Thokdam secured first and Gracy Kujur second. In the Slogan writing category, Marlinush Baghwar secured first and Anjali Steephan secured Second.

14 March 19: Asst. Prof Bishnubrat Hazarika of ARGUCOM along with Asst. Prof. Hemanta Chutia and Asst. Prof Subhasish Borpujari inaugurated the wall Magazine of the English Department today. The wall Magazine “Symposium” presented various articles, poems, drawings and sketches on the theme “War and Peace”.

Some of the contributors for the theme of War and Peace are: Triveni Teronpi, Prem Prakash Kujur, Marlinush Baghwar, Tarcila Toppo, Rashmi Tigga and Joydeep Kiro.

Marlinush Baghwar, Leader of the English Department welcomed the honoured guests and presented a short introduction about the wall Magazine.

We appreciate the hard work of the students of the Department of English and the expert guidance given by the Asst. Professors of the department of English, Ms. Kabideepa Handique, Mr. Probin Hazarika, Sr. Reena P. George, Mr. Bhaskar Gohain and Ms. Joysree Rajbonshi. Congratulations to the department of English.
