Principal and Staff meet with Lt. Col Kapil Bakhshi, Officer Commanding, 12 Assam (I) Coy NCC to start NCC SD troop at College

27 June 2019: Principal along with some of the staff of the college met with Lt. Col Kapil Bakhshi, Officer Commanding, 12 Assam NCC (I) Coy, Golaghat for the purpose of getting approval to start NCC SD troop in Don Bosco College, Golaghat.

The members of the staff present for the meeting were: CTO Himadri Dutta, Asst Prof. Shiv Kumar Sharma, Department of Commerce and Asst Prof. Micheal Xaxa, Department of Economics, of Don Bosco College, Golaghat. The meeting was very fruitful and we eagerly look forward to starting of the NCC SD troop at Don Bosco College, Golaghat. Thank you Lt. Col Kapil Bakhshi for your valuable guidance and suggestion.

Sports club identifies 3 football teams for the college after a week of practices

23 June 2019: The Sports club of the college with the help of Fr. Dr. Policarp Xalxo, Mr. Micheal Xaxa, Asst.Professor, Dept of Economics and Mr. Shiv Kumar Sharma, Asst. Professor, Department of Commerce have selected three football teams. They will practice regularly and in August 2019, a further selection of players will be done.

First Sessional Exams scheduled to be held from 13-16 February

12 Feb 19: The First sessional Exams are scheduled to be held from 13-16 February 2016. The hall allotment and seat arrangement was seen to by Mr. Micheal Xaxa, Asst. Professor, Department of Economics. We wish the students all the best for the exams.

Fr. Nazarius Lakra, Vice Provincial, presides over the Gaand Finale of the College Week Celebrations

12 Jan : Rev Fr. Nazarius Lakra, Vice Provincial of Dimapur Province arrived at the parade ground at 10.00 am. He was ushered in by the NCC cadets, Jagritte Sonowal and Amin Topno.  Jayenta Chetri, Captain of the Red House Boys and Rebecca Surin, Captain of the Yellow House Girls welcomed the chief guest.  On completion of the Inspection of parade, lighting of the Olympic Torch and March past, the Chief Guest addressed the staff and students on the importance of such a celebration in the life of a student. He appreciated the hard work put in by the staff and students and encouraged all to give their best both in co-curricular activities and academic life.

Soon relay race for boys and girls were conducted. This was followed by the best of the events that were held in the previous days.Best of Instrumental by Samuel Purty of Green House, Best of Western Dance Girls by Neha Soreng and team of Green House, Best of Solo by Junmai Wangsu of Red House, Best of Western Dance by Johan Bodra and team of Yellow House, Best of Mime by James Soreng of Red House, Best of English Poetry by Tingmai Wangsu of Yellow House and Best of Assamese Poetry by Tohsina Seyedi of Yellow House. This was followed by the Cultural Dance competition in which Green House secured first, Blue second and Yellow 3rd.

Next was the inter house Tug-O-War contest for both boys and girls and the winners were challenged by the staff. After this the Chief Guest delivered the concluding words, in which he appreciated the wonderful display of sportsmanship and the spirit of unity that everyone displayed. He declared the college week celebrations closed and with the singing of the National Anthem, the college week celebrations came to an end.

The Principal thanked the Chief Guest for his gracious presence, The Coordinating team of Asst. Prof. Micheal Xaxa, Asst. Prof. Shiv Kumar Sharma and Asst. Prof. Anjan Bharali for making all the arrangements and logistics for the college week celebrations and all the house masters, House leaders, Staff and Students for their wonderful collaboration and cooperation to make this a memorable College Week Celebration.

 

Students set to participate in the District level Youth Voters Festival 2019

23 Jan:  Selected students of Don Bosco College are set to participate in the District level Youth Voters Festival 2019, organised by the Election Officer, Golaghat. Five students, Pinky Mura, Angelina Tirkey, Marina Lakra, Preety Ekka and Sunita Soreng are participating in the Rangoli Competition on “Voters Awareness”, accompanied by Ms. Daisy Gogoi, Asst. Professor, Department of Education.  Ten students, Vishal Guria, Suraj Beck, Oli Koiri, Anjali Steephan, Rohit Goh, Bangsa Thokdam, Pranay Mundu, David Horo, Sengdim Maio and Elwin Terang are set to participate in the Street Wall Painting competition titled “Voter’s Awareness”, accompanied by Mr. Micheal Xaxa, Asst. Professor, Department of Economics. While the street wall painting competition will commence at 8.00 am, the Rangoli Competition will start at 10.00 am.  We wish the participants all the best.

NCC Cadets organise a public rally to create awareness on saying No to Plastics

5 Jun : Soon after the World Environment Day celebrations at the college campus, the NCC cadets took a public rally to create awareness among the people to control the use of plastics in order to safeguard the environment. The CTO of the NCC Unit, Ms. Himadri Dutta, Asst. Professor, Department of Assamese and Mr. Micheal Xaxa, Asst. Professor, Department of Economics accompanied the cadets.  With banners, placards and posters, the cadets impressed the people on the need to save and protect the environment.

 

Second sessional examinations begin today

6 April : The second sessional exams began today at the college. This will help the students to earn more internal marks. All the students are very serious about the exams. We wish them all the best for their examinations.  Sr. Reena P. George of Department of English, Mr. Micheal Xaxa of Economics Department and Mr. Manoranjan Konthoujam of Computer Studies Department saw to the smooth conduct of the examinations.

National Seminar – Dr. Pius V Thomas, Dr. George Thadathil and Dr. Tarun Gogi chair three parallel technical session

16 March: Soon after the inaugural programme, the participants went to the technical session 1: The First technical session was divided into 2 parallel session. Dr. Pius V Thomas and Dr. Tarun Gogoi jointly chaired  1a and 1c technical session and Dr. George Thadathil chaired the Technical Session 1b. Each paper presenter was given 7 minutes to present the paper and the participants were given 3 minutes to clarify doubts about the paper. At the end of the paper presentations, a general discussion was held and the chair persons gave their concluding remarks on each of the paper as per availability of time.

The rapporteurs for the first Technical session were : Mr. Mukul Sarmah & Mr. Micheal Xaxa from department of Economics and Mr. Stephen Baite and Ms. Mrigakhi Goswami. The First technical session began at 11.30 am and ended at 1.15 pm. This was followed by meal for all.

College Week inaugurated on 9 January

Jan 9 : The Annual College Week was inaugurated on 9 January. A wide variety of programs including athletics, sports, cultural and literary events were chosen for the college week celebration. Students actively participated in the program. Rev Fr. Dilip Bara, Rector and Parish Priest declared the college week open. The NCC Girl cadets led the flag hoisting ceremony. Mr. Micheal Xaxa, Asst. Professor, Department of Economics and Mr. Shiv Kumar Sharma, Asst. Professor, Department of Commerce are the coordinators of the college week program. Each day’s program was managed by the staff with the help of the various clubs assigned for each day.

The first day had the inaugural program and the athletic events. Sports and Yoga Club helped in the program

NSS Volunteers organise cleanliness drive at the adopted village

25 Nov : The participants of the special camp organised a cleanliness drive at the adopted village today. Along with the Program officer, Ms. Sushmita Borah Rongpipi, Asst. Prof. Micheal Xaxa and the resource person of the day Sr. Sweta, the volunteers did a wonderful good turn to the adopted village. The volunteers did a wonderful job and showed by example the need to keep the surrounding clean.
