The NSS Unit and Eco Club Organise World environment day under the theme “Beat Air Pollution”

5 June 2019: World Environment Day under the theme Beat Air Pollution was held at the college today. The day’s program was organized by Fr. Dr. Policarp Xalxo in collaboration with the NSS and the Eco Club.  The day was marked by plantation of saplings by staff and students and cleaning of the college surroundings.

Fr. Bimal Lakra, Vice Principal, through digital presentation, song and prayer, showed how we need to care for the environment. Mr. Mukul Sarmah, Eco Club Coordinator, introduced the topic and presented the program of the day. NSS volunteers presented the theme “Beat Air Pollution” in an attractive manner. This was followed by a prayer for the protection of environment by Dilbar Barla.

The college community took a pledge, led by Ajay Bara, to protect and nurture the environment. After this Fr. Dr. Policarp presented the modalities and procedures of the outdoor activity. 

The College authorities, staff and representatives of the students from the various departments were selected to plant trees. This was followed by clearing the jungle in the campus and protecting the plants of the campus.

At 11.30 am, the program came to a close with light refreshment served for everyone.

Don Bosco College Governing Body meet today

29 April 2019: The Governing Body of the College met today as part of its scheduled meeting at 3.00 pm. Fr. Joseph Kindo presided over the meeting. Ten members were present and three members could not be present due to various urgent reasons.

The president opened the meeting with a short prayer after by welcoming all the members present. The secretary, Fr. Jose Palely read the report and it was passed. Fr. Policarp presented the activity report of the college.

After that the academic calendar was taken fir discussion and approved. Varous academic matters and preparedness for starting the CBCS system in the college was evaluated and found satisfactory.

After some input from the College administrator on the financial aspects of the college and the study of the college prospectus for the session 2019-20, the meeting came to a close at 5.00 pm

Swatchh Bharat Summer Internship program launched by MHRD in Association with Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin)

28 April:  The Ministry of Human Resource Development. in association
with the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin). Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation. is
launching a ‘Swachh Bharat Summer Internship’ programme. Accordingly all students enrolled in the universities and colleges are encouraged to register for this program. Don Bosco College has appointed Mr. Mukul Sarmah, Asst. Professor, Department of Economics and In Charge of Eco Club, as the Nodal Officer for the said program.

As the Nodal Officer, I invite all the students of the college to avail this facility and visit the website https://sbsi.mygov.in and enroll yourself.  The website provides all information in a very lucid manner. This is a very good program that will give you additional credits and rewards, if done according to the various requisites. The internship needs to be completed before 31 July 2018.

Nodal Officer, Swachh Bharat Summer internship – 2018


National Seminar – Dr. Pius V Thomas, Dr. George Thadathil and Dr. Tarun Gogi chair three parallel technical session

16 March: Soon after the inaugural programme, the participants went to the technical session 1: The First technical session was divided into 2 parallel session. Dr. Pius V Thomas and Dr. Tarun Gogoi jointly chaired  1a and 1c technical session and Dr. George Thadathil chaired the Technical Session 1b. Each paper presenter was given 7 minutes to present the paper and the participants were given 3 minutes to clarify doubts about the paper. At the end of the paper presentations, a general discussion was held and the chair persons gave their concluding remarks on each of the paper as per availability of time.

The rapporteurs for the first Technical session were : Mr. Mukul Sarmah & Mr. Micheal Xaxa from department of Economics and Mr. Stephen Baite and Ms. Mrigakhi Goswami. The First technical session began at 11.30 am and ended at 1.15 pm. This was followed by meal for all.
