NSS Unit marks NSS day with Cleanliness Drive in the city

24 Sept: The Don Bosco College NSS Unit observed 24 September as the NSS day. The day was marked with awareness program organised in the college for all the students in which the NSS volunteers spoke about National Service Scheme.
Under the Banner “Cleanliness Drive” the volunteers motivated the students to clean the campus. After that they organised Cleanliness Drive to clean the city. We thank Ms. Sushmita Bora Rongpipi for organising the program and the volunteers for doing honor to the NSS by giving their time to clean the city.
NSS Volunteers perform street plays on ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ at KKBB High School

17 April: Twenty NSS Volunteers as part of ‘Swatchh Bharat Abhiyan’ Conscientization program, performed short street plays at KKBB High School today. The street play was aimed at creating awareness in the area of health and sanitation under the theme:”एक कदम स्वच्छता की ओर / One step towards cleanliness”. The street paly was performed at Kushal Konwar Balya Bhawan High School, so that the children of the school and the people around can benefit from it.
The volunteers spread the message of clean environment, individual responsibility and self hygiene through the plays. They also demonstrated the proper method of hand washing to the staff and the students of the schools. Two volunteers from the students were also trained in hand washing. We are very grateful to Mrs. Padmavati Bora, the Principal of the school for her co-operation. They appreciated the performance of the NSS Volunteers and request the programme officer to have further such exchange programs in the future. We appreciate the hard work of Ms. Sushmita Borah Rongpipi, the Program officer.
NSS Volunteers create a new NSS Garden in the campus

13 Feb: The NSS Volunteers organised themselves to make an NSS garden in the campus. This was in view of the forth coming National Seminar scheduled to be held on 16-17 March 2018. They were very enthusiastic and worked very energetically. Since the land is not fertile enough, fresh fertile soil was brought for the garden.
National Unity Day – Rashtriya Ekta Divas – observed

31 Oct: The 4th national Unity day or Rashtriya Ekta Divas was celebrated today by the NSS Unit, Don Bosco College, Golaghat on the occasion of the 142nd Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The theme for the day was ‘Run For Unity’. The Run for Unity started at 9.30 am by the volunteers who gathered at the college premises. The staff and the Principal participated in the Marathon, to spread the message of unity, integration and harmony among the people.
After the marathon was completed, tribute was paid by all the staff and students of the college by lighting the lamp and offering floral tribute. A short program was also organized by the Volunteers on the occasion. Rangong Apesam, a volunteers spoke on the life of Sardar Patel, and a speech on the significance of the day was delivered by Mark Pegu and the vote of thanks by Martin Minj.
NSS Volunteers observe Gandhi Jayanti with Plants protection works

2 Oct: The NSS volunteers organised a very meaningful Gandhi Jayanti celebration with lighting of the lamp and floral tribute to the Portrait of Mahatma Gandhi. The host of the programm was Chungthanlung Kamei from the department of English. Mr. Guloungam Gangmei from the department of Sociology delivered a speech on the importance of the day. John Kisku of the Political Science Department offered vote of thanks. Ms. Sushmita Bora Rongpipi, Nss Programme officer, coordinated the program with the help of Chungailiu Kamei, student of the department of Sociology. This was followed by an hour of social work by the volunteers and the college students.
NSS day was observed with awareness programme and cleanliness drive

25 Sept: NSS day was observed in the college on Monday, 25 September. The NSS volunteers organised a one hour program to impart awarenes to all the students of the college on NSS activities. Guloungam and Tohsina were the comperes for the program. Rohit Gorh, welcomed all the dignitaries and students and spoke about the NSS and its activities. Report of the recent training programs in which our students attended were presented by Martin Minj and Mark Pegu. The principal of the college gave a message on the motto of NSS and asked each volunteer to do services for humanity without counting the cost.
Basil Barla with the help of a power point presentation showed the rich opportunity and recognition that NSS offer for the self-sacrificing volunteers and program officers. The Program Officer, Ms. Sushmita Bora Rongpipi, who was very active and motivating the volunteers to make the day special, also appreciated the sacrifices made by the volunteers for making this day a memorable one.
In the afternoon, the volunteers set themselves to do social work in the campus thorugh a cleanliness drive.

22 Sept: A 2 day training program was held at Dibrugarh Unviersity on Leadership Development and Enhancement of Communication skills to address the Swachh Bharat Movement. Two NSS volunteers from the college, Mr. Martin Minj and Ms. Sushila Lakra were delegated to participate in the said workshop.
‘The sessions were interactive and very enriching’, said Martin. “The aim of the workshop was to build leaders who will motivate their companions in the college to conscientise all to make ‘clean India’. Both Sushila and Martin were selected to go for a Documentary shooting at Banipur to promote cleanliness.
Joshmine and Mark participate in NSS Camp at JDSG College

Sept 22: A five day NSS camp was held at Bokakhat JDSG college from 18 – 22 Sept. The theme of the camp was Life skills, personality development and leadership training programme. Two NSS Volunteers from our college, Ms. Joshmine Minj and Mr. Mark Pegu were selected to participate in the training program.
All the students benefitted from the session. “We learnt a lot about developing personality, skills and how to become good leaders” said Joshmine.
