“When you go through a difficulty, it will only makes you strong”, says Dr. Policarp Xalxo, on his Birthday.

April 3, 2019: Fr. Dr. Policarp Xalxo, Administrator, Asst. Professor and IQAC Coordinator celebrated his birthday today. The college students greeted him and wished him. In his message, Fr Policarp shared childhood memories and school days punctuated with humorous events and at each instance of adventure, the audience roared with laughter. He inspired one with his positive energy through his life sharing and all were touched by his ‘simplicity in handling a cycle that was bigger than him’ to negotiate daily to school and ‘the joy of falling’ took all to their childhood days. And he added, “when you go through difficulties, it will only makes you strong”.

In concluding his message he said, “The difficulties I went through, made me so strong, that I have no complaint whatsoever. The difficult situations come and go and leave with us a rich experience. And I feel that God gives us always means to love and these are ways through which we can better ourselves through growing in self image, learning to appreciate ourselves, and all the gifts that he has given and the people with whom we live. Let us thank God for the life that we have been given. “

Fr. Jose Palely introduced the day with his greetings during the assembly while Suman Ekka and Albin Kerketta of Sociology Department felicitated him with Fulam Gamocha and a Bouquet of Flowers respectively.

The staff and students felicitated Fr. Policarp and offered prayers for him thanking God for the innumerable blessings he gives to them through Fr. Policarp.

NCC Rank Award Ceremony held at DBC Golaghat

2 April 19: Today Rank Award Ceremony of 74 Assam Girls (I) Coy , NCC Golaghat of Don Bosco College Unit was held at college premises . The Programme started with welcome song by NCC cadets . Welcome speech was given by Principal , Father Jose Palely . Col. Ripu Daman Singh Officer Commanding , 74 Assam Girls (I) Coy was present as chief guest . Mr. Amit Nagori was also present for the function and covered the event.

R.D Singh in his speech said , ” Rank is not an award, rather it is like duty or authority to do work . Hard work is never left unrewarded but all will have to work hard and shape one’s personality . Inculcating reading habits of books and newspaper will help surely in developing personality .

” In the ceremony Ranks were awarded to Jenny Barla (U/O) , Amin Topno (Sergeant), Clementina Toppo & Jagritee Sonowal (Corporal) by Col . R.D Singh. Himadri Dutta CTO addressed the gathering .

Vote of thanks was given by Rohita Topno . The programme was anchored by Shamma Kausar . The programme ended with NCC Song . Father Bimal Lakra, Father Mathew C Paul , PI Staff , Faculties and Students were present for the programme . 

Fr. Bimal Lakra Inaugurates the Political Science Departmental Wall Magazine Titled “Analysis on the Present NDA led Government

22 March 2019: The department of Political science prepared the college magazine on the theme ‘Analysis on the present NDA led Government’ which included initiatives on various developmental measures and the drawbacks of the government. Aboy Panmei Compered the Inaugural Program.

The wall magazine was inaugurated by Fr. Bimal Lakra, vice principal and the PRO of the college in the presence of Fr. Dr. Jose Palely, Principal and Fr. Dr. Policarp Xalxo, Administrator and IQAC coordinator of the college. All the college students along with the staff were present for the inaugural ceremony. Fr. Bimal Lakra spoke about the importance of mastering the skill of analysis and appreciated the effort made by the students of the political Science department in analyzing and bringing about the effectiveness of the present NDA Government.

Wanggo Lowang gave a brief description about the departmental wall magazine highlighting the various features. ‘We wanted to light a fire of desire in everyone and create a thirst for knowledge’, he said. After the words of appreciation from Fr. Principal and Fr. Administrator, Sinchuilung Gangmei delivered vote of thanks.

St. Joseph feast Celebrated at Borgaon No 1 Village

19 March 2019: The Feast of St. Joseph was celebrated at Borgaon No. 1 Village with due solemnity as it s the feast of the village church. Fr. Joseph Kindo, Rector and Parish Priest, Fr. Albert Tirkey, Director, Rangajan Don Bosco Vocational Training Centre and Fr. Jose Palely, Principal of Don Bosco College Golaghat along with Sr. Ciciliyamma K.M. CSJB and team visited the village and took part the the celebration.

Fr. Joseph Kindo hoisted the flag marking the beginning of the festival. The people danced and sang for joy.

There was solemn eucharistic celebration presided over by Rev. Fr. Joseph Kindo. Fr. Albert Tirkey read the scripture and Fr. Jose Palely shared a message during the mass on imitating the good example given by St. Joseph.

Fr. Joseph Pampackal, Incharge of Don Bosco Rangajan and Fr. Policarp Xalxo, Administrator and IQAC coordinator of the College also joined the celebration. Sisters from Degaon Community also were present for the celebration. The feast day celebrants, Fr. Joseph Kindo, Fr. Pampackal Joseph and Fr. Jose Palely were given special token of affection.

This was followed by welcoming and felicitation of the guests, short cultural program and community meal.

We thank Shri Jewel Kerketta, head catechist and all the people of the Borgaon No. 1 Village for the wonderful program that they arranged. We could feel the great unity and joy of the people as they all sat in the ground and had community meal together.

Fr. Dr. Policarp Xalxo addresses the SPCSA General Assembly at DBIDL, Dimapur

27 Feb 19: Fr. Dr. Policarp Xalxo was invited to present a paper on “Nation building in the Constitutional way. What type of Salesians do we need today?” to the general assembly of “The Salesian Provincial Council of South Asia” (SPCSA) at 11.15 am. He gave a 45 minutes presentation which was followed by 15 minutes of interaction. He spoke about how to build up the young people through the constitutional values of democracy, secularism, tolerance, cultural pluralism and care for the poor section of Society.

The Salesian Provincial Council of South Asia (SPCSA) is a body, led by Father Maria Arokiam Kanaga, Regional Councillor, which brings together 11 Provinces as one body for common orientations and initiatives.

The students of Don Bosco Hr. Sec School, Dimapur welcomed the dignitaries. It also marked the inauguration of a three year centenary celebration of the arrival of the Salesians to the North East. Rev Fr. Basanes Guillermo, General Councilor for the Missions, Rome and Rev Fr. Maria Arokiam Kanaga, Regional Superior, South Asia along with the 11 provincials and delegates were present for the meeting.

Don Bosco College Observe Pulwama Martyrs day today and prayed for peace

21 Feb 2019: Don Bosco College observed Pulwama Martyrs day today and prayed for peace. Dr. Policarp Xalxo spoke about the martyrs who gave their life and emphasized the need for working together for peace. All prayed for peace and observed a minute of silence. He exhorted the students to focus on their studies which will help them become good leaders of the future capable of taking responsibility in every challenging situation.

Principal chairs the meeting of the Higher Education commission, Dimapur

19 March : The Commission for Higher Education, Dimapur Province, met together at the IDL Dimapur. They discussed about the Internal Quality Management, meeting to the NAAC Parameters and providing opportunity for capacity building of the staff and students. Accordingly, various programmes for the students and staff were chalked out.

The colleges also discussed about sharing resources through formation of a Consortium of the colleges through campus management and Learning Management systems.
