Don Bosco College Participates in the memorial service for Late Dr. Jatindra Nath Saikia at Commerce College

30 March 2019: Fr. Dr. Jose Palely, Principal along with Sr. Reena P George, Asst. Professor, English and Mr. Anjan Bharali, Asst. Professor, Commerce, participated in the memorial prayer service for the departed soul of Dr. Jatindra Nath Saikia.

Chants, Prayers and floral tributes marked the memorial service. In his message for the publication in memory of kate Dr. Jatindra Nath Saikia, Dr Jose Palely wrote about the wonderful spirit that existed between the two colleges, thanks to the great concern and support extended by him as principal of the Commerce College, Golaghat.

He prayed that the vision and the ideals of Dr. Jatindra Nath Saikia for the Commerce College and for the cause of education as a leading educationist and philosopher be made to reach its fulfillment and become a reality, through the efforts of all gathered together in his name.

Most Rev Joseph Aind visits the college to oversee the developmental works

31 March 2019: Most Rev Joseph Aind, Bishop of Dibrugarh visited Don Bosco College campus today and interacted with the Salesian Community and the CSJB sisters who are collaborating with the college.

He was happy to see the progress of the developmental works at the college as well as the Girls’ Hostel. He was happy to see the Fusco Girls hostel nearing completion.

He appreciated the speed with which the college building is coming up and took photos with Fr. Principal and the sisters. He had a cup of tea with the sisters and after encouraging everyone, he proceeded to Dibrugarh.

14 March 19: Asst. Prof Bishnubrat Hazarika of ARGUCOM along with Asst. Prof. Hemanta Chutia and Asst. Prof Subhasish Borpujari inaugurated the wall Magazine of the English Department today. The wall Magazine “Symposium” presented various articles, poems, drawings and sketches on the theme “War and Peace”.

Some of the contributors for the theme of War and Peace are: Triveni Teronpi, Prem Prakash Kujur, Marlinush Baghwar, Tarcila Toppo, Rashmi Tigga and Joydeep Kiro.

Marlinush Baghwar, Leader of the English Department welcomed the honoured guests and presented a short introduction about the wall Magazine.

We appreciate the hard work of the students of the Department of English and the expert guidance given by the Asst. Professors of the department of English, Ms. Kabideepa Handique, Mr. Probin Hazarika, Sr. Reena P. George, Mr. Bhaskar Gohain and Ms. Joysree Rajbonshi. Congratulations to the department of English.

Sr. Reena P George conducts team building dynamics for Career Training Participants

21 Feb 19:  Sr. Reena P George, Career Trainer and Asst. Professor, Department of English, took team building dynamics for the 25 participants of the Career Training Program.  The trainees were divided into three groups. Each group was given two bricks. with the help of the bricks and a helper, each team member had to reach the target area. When all the members of the team reaches the target, the games is completed.

Based on the experience of the trainees, a discussion was held and many points were drawn out. One salient feature of the dynamic was, how understanding and helpful was the one who assisted the one who was walking. The students brought out other importance values like cooperation, unity, spirit of inter-team competition based on their experience of the team game.

 

The Feast of St. Alfonso Maria Fusco was celebrated with due solemnity at the campus

7 Jan 19:  Don Bosco College celebrated the feast of St. Alfonso Maria Fusco, the Founder of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. John the Baptist, who are collaborating with the Salesians in the running of the Don Bosco College, Golaghat. The day began with the Holy mass led by Rev Fr. Joseph Kindo, Rector and Parish Priest. At the beginning of the Mass, Sr. Reena P. George CSJB welcomed all present, gave an introduction on St. Alfonso Maria Fusco and invited Fr. Kindo to preside over the Eucharistic celebration. During the assembly, the sisters were felicitated. Dr. Sheela Paul shed light on the life and works of the saint Alfonso Maria Fusco with the help of the video presentation.  The sisters began the collaboration with the college at the very inception of the institution. At present two sisters Sr. Reena P George, Asst. Professor, Department of English and one of the pioneering member of the centre and Dr. Sheela Paul, Assistant Professor, Department of Education, teach in the college. Sisters also run a Fusco Girls hostel with over 86 girls. A new hostel with intake capacity of 200 girls is in the final stage of completion. We wish the sisters a very happy feast of their Founder

Career Trainees prepare collage posters

25 Sept : With the help of the career facilitators, the Career Trainees prepared collage posters. The students were divided into groups and were asked to prepare a poster each on various careers.  They were given materials to prepare the collage. The trainees came up with very creative ways to present the career of their choice.

14 Sept: Mr. Harmeet Singh, Career Facilitator along with Sr. Reena George  organised activity session for the career trainers. All the students took active part in the session.

Career Facilitators organise group discussion for career training participants

24 Aug:  The Career Facilitators of the college recruited twenty five students of the first semester for the career training program. They were given a session of group interaction for them. They were divided into groups and were given opportunity for guided group discussion and interaction.  They were given opportunity to share their experience as well. The session lasted 2 hours.

My Quest My Career course begins at DBC Golaghat in Association with Quest Alliance

5 March:  A 25 hour training programme on My Quest My Career began on Sunday at 10.30 am. The programme helps the participants through career and life skills training to have a strong linkage between Learning and livelihood.

The programme introduces ideas and skills for building life skills leading to better learning outcomes. This programme aims to influence the participants’ preparedness  to face the world of work and life in general.

Dr. Ruth Nengneilhing, Ms. Sushmita Bora Rongpipi, Sr. Reena P. George and Mr. Harmeet Singh along with the Principal and Vice Principal initiated the programme. 86 students of Don Bosco College have joined for the programme and they are divided into 3 groups. The college has modified the timetable to make the Career Learning programme to be part of the college curriculum.

Four staff to participate in Training of Trainers on Life Skills and Career Development – 22-27 Jan 2017

Jan 20: Four Asst. Professors from the college are short listed to participate in the ” Training of Trainers on Life Skills and Career Development” organised by the QUEST Alliance from 22-27 January 2017.

This training programme will provide opportunity to partner with Quest  Alliance in providing Life skill and Career Development opportunities to the college students and the youth of the neighbourhood.
