Sports club identifies 3 football teams for the college after a week of practices

23 June 2019: The Sports club of the college with the help of Fr. Dr. Policarp Xalxo, Mr. Micheal Xaxa, Asst.Professor, Dept of Economics and Mr. Shiv Kumar Sharma, Asst. Professor, Department of Commerce have selected three football teams. They will practice regularly and in August 2019, a further selection of players will be done.

Commerce Department took up plantation of additional saplings at the college campus

14 June 2019: The staff and students of the Department of Commerce took up the protection and preservation of the saplings planted during the World Environment Day 2019.

As part of the activity, students brought saplings and planted them in the College plantation area. The 5th sem students took leadership in the planting program.

Sanjit Kr Singh brought a Berry plant, David Horo planted a sapling of Jack fruit , Rimon Lakra a Mango tree sampling and
Godbin Toppo planted a blackberry sapling.

The Commerce Department has decided to protect and preserve the tree saplings of the campus and Plant additional saplings every week

7 June 2019: The department of Commerce decided to protect and preserve the tree saplings planted in the campus on the World Environment Day.

They will maintain the tree plantation and identify each plant by its scientific name.

They have decided to plant 5 plants each every week during the departmental activity. They will provide Fencing and care for the plants.

Project Work Presentation Session Organized by Department of Commerce for B.Com 6th Semester Students

The department of Commerce has organized a presentation session for the 6th semester students of B.com course of the college. The presentation was regarding the project work undertaken by the students of their course work.

During the presentation, the principal of the college Fr. Dr. Jose Palely was present along with Asst. Prof. Ms Ayoushree Dowara, Department of Sociology along with the Asst. Professors of the commerce department, Mr. Harmeet Singh, Mr. Shiv Kumar Sharma, Ms. Devangona Saikia, Mr. Anjan Bharali, Ms. Mousumi Gogoi and Mr. Sanjay Rizal. They offered valuable observation and comments on the presentation made by the students.

The topics which students have undertaken are related to the welfare of the workers, the compensation paid by management, their investment pattern of the workers, Job satisfaction of the workers. The Academic project was completed by visiting the survey site and responses with taken from the targeted sample.   Mr. Shiv Kumar Sharma and Ms. Mousumi Gogoi, Asst. Professors, Department of Commerce, mentored the students in the project work.

“Leaders are born or made” discusses Commerce department

5 April 2019: The students of the Department of commerce deliberated on the topic ” “leaders are born or made? Justify”. All the students were divided into 9 teams consisting of 3 members each for a group discussion. Their findings and ideas were presented to the whole group. Mark Pegu along with his team members John Dhanwar and Bijay Tete were adjudged as the best presenters. All the teams did a very commendable job.

The students were mentored by the Asst. Professors of the department, Mr. Harmeet Singh, Ms. Devangana Saikia, Mr. Anjan Bharali, Mr. Shiv Kumar Sharma, Ms. Mousumi Gogoi and Mr. Sanjay Rizal. We thank them for their hard work.

Technology Savvy Commerce Wall Magazine ‘Innovate and Conquer’ Inaugurated

On 18th March, 2019: Fr. Dr. Jose Palely, Principal, inaugurated the SPARKLE Wall Magazine themed “Innovate and Conquer” of the Commerce Department today. His appreciatively noted in the comment section of the wall that this endeavor of the department marked the stamp of creativity and use technology. The integrating of technology is something new and unique in the growth of the Wall magazines in the campus.

The wall magazine contained articles on Successful people of top companies, such as Jeff Bezos, Dhirubhai Ambani, Bill Gates and Warren Buffett, who used their innovative ideas and now conquering the world. Use of Technology in inaugurating the wall magazine and use of  QR CODE for accessing the articles online were befitting of the title of the Wall Magazine.

The college appreciates the efforts of the department in making this campus moving towards greater digitalization. The Asst. Professors of the Department of Commerce, Mr. Harmeet Singh, HOD, Mr. Shiv Kumar Sharma, Mr.  Anjan Bharali, Ms. Devangana Saikia, Ms. Mousumi Gogoi and Mr. Sanjay Rizal mentored the students.

Cleanliness Drive and Yoga Exercises mark the second day of NSS Special Camp

2 March 19: The nss volunteers began the day with a yoga session from 9:30 a.m. Small children of the adopted slum area also participated in the yoga session. Mr Montesh Tanti as the trainer conducted this yoga session. He demonstrated all the asanas necessary to keep the body fit and also spoke little bit on how to cure some ailments with the help of yoga. After the session ended at 11:00, they had tea break for half an hour.

After the Tea Break, Ms. Sushmita Bora Rongpipi, NSS Program Officer, led the volunteers for a cleanliness drive in the adopted village area, picking waste papers, rubbish and plastics involving the local people also. They cleaned and burnt the garbages in a nearby open field at the end. The drive ended at 1:00 pm. After that all gathered for a discussion regarding sapling plantation and other activities for the coming week. Dr. Policarp Xalxo, Administrator of the college with the help of Shiv Kumar Sharma, Asst. Professor, Commerce and Manoranjan Konthoujam, Asst. Professor, Computer Studies arranged over 100 saplings for the tree plantation program from the office of the District Forest Officer, Golaghat.

Fr. Nazarius Lakra, Vice Provincial, presides over the Gaand Finale of the College Week Celebrations

12 Jan : Rev Fr. Nazarius Lakra, Vice Provincial of Dimapur Province arrived at the parade ground at 10.00 am. He was ushered in by the NCC cadets, Jagritte Sonowal and Amin Topno.  Jayenta Chetri, Captain of the Red House Boys and Rebecca Surin, Captain of the Yellow House Girls welcomed the chief guest.  On completion of the Inspection of parade, lighting of the Olympic Torch and March past, the Chief Guest addressed the staff and students on the importance of such a celebration in the life of a student. He appreciated the hard work put in by the staff and students and encouraged all to give their best both in co-curricular activities and academic life.

Soon relay race for boys and girls were conducted. This was followed by the best of the events that were held in the previous days.Best of Instrumental by Samuel Purty of Green House, Best of Western Dance Girls by Neha Soreng and team of Green House, Best of Solo by Junmai Wangsu of Red House, Best of Western Dance by Johan Bodra and team of Yellow House, Best of Mime by James Soreng of Red House, Best of English Poetry by Tingmai Wangsu of Yellow House and Best of Assamese Poetry by Tohsina Seyedi of Yellow House. This was followed by the Cultural Dance competition in which Green House secured first, Blue second and Yellow 3rd.

Next was the inter house Tug-O-War contest for both boys and girls and the winners were challenged by the staff. After this the Chief Guest delivered the concluding words, in which he appreciated the wonderful display of sportsmanship and the spirit of unity that everyone displayed. He declared the college week celebrations closed and with the singing of the National Anthem, the college week celebrations came to an end.

The Principal thanked the Chief Guest for his gracious presence, The Coordinating team of Asst. Prof. Micheal Xaxa, Asst. Prof. Shiv Kumar Sharma and Asst. Prof. Anjan Bharali for making all the arrangements and logistics for the college week celebrations and all the house masters, House leaders, Staff and Students for their wonderful collaboration and cooperation to make this a memorable College Week Celebration.


College Week inaugurated on 9 January

Jan 9 : The Annual College Week was inaugurated on 9 January. A wide variety of programs including athletics, sports, cultural and literary events were chosen for the college week celebration. Students actively participated in the program. Rev Fr. Dilip Bara, Rector and Parish Priest declared the college week open. The NCC Girl cadets led the flag hoisting ceremony. Mr. Micheal Xaxa, Asst. Professor, Department of Economics and Mr. Shiv Kumar Sharma, Asst. Professor, Department of Commerce are the coordinators of the college week program. Each day’s program was managed by the staff with the help of the various clubs assigned for each day.

The first day had the inaugural program and the athletic events. Sports and Yoga Club helped in the program
